The first phase of the National training centre (NTC) of the Slovak Football Association (SFZ) began in 2011, included a complete reconstruction of the original stand of Poprad’s football stadium. A unique pitch heating system was introduced, utilising the geothermal water from nearby AquaCity. The second phase of development included the construction of three new stands, also new floodlights with four levels of intensity, whose capacity exceeds required standards of International matches for television (1400 lux).
As a part of the first phase of the reconstruction, the NTC also now includes accommodation facilities (39 rooms). Part of this building also includes a 32 cover restaurant. During the second phase three additional stands were created increasing the capacity of the stadium to 5700 spectators. The next step, is a plan to build additional training fields with both natural and artificial surfaces.
